What is Lycra?
Lycra is not a type of fabric but a trade name for elastomeric yarn. Other commonly used terms/brand names for Lycra are Elastan, Dorlastan and Spandex.
Polyester lycra with a high percentage of elastic yarns, often made, up to 20%. By comparison, standard stretch fabrics are often 2 to 5% elastic yarn. In short, stands for fabrics with a high elastane content.

Enter the '%EL' in the search bar, then you will get all fabrics with elastane. Do you want an exact percentage of elastane? Then specify your search query, for example for 2% elastane: '2% EL'. Note: be sure to separate the percantage and EL with a space.
Properties of Lycra
Lycra shines, often feels happy and is often used in fabrics that have to be very stretchy. It is often used in combination with viscose, cotton and polyester. Lycra is used in sportswear, swimwear and underwear, among other things.
Fabrics with a lower elastane content can be used for many more garments: dresses, sweaters, (stretch) pants, tops, t-shirts and so on.
