Nooteboom Textiles is a certified supplier of GOTS, GRS, OEKO-TEX®, TENCEL™ Lyocell and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose products.
GOTS - Global Organic Textile Standard
GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard, which is a standard that not only verifies the presence and amount of organic material in fabrics and tracks the flow of raw materials from its source to the final product, but also audits companies to make sure these materials are processed according to strict standards.
The GOTS certificate only applies for fabrics that contain more than 70% organic cotton material and for companies that are ecological and socially responsible. Nooteboom Textiles supports fair trade and cares about the well-being of textile workers all over the world.
OEKO-TEX - Confidence in textiles
The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a worldwide, consistent, independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, finished textile fabrics and end products at all stages of production. With their slogan “Confidence in textiles” Oeko-Tex became a worldwide synonym for responsible textile production, safety and transparency. Oeko-Tex certification is a very important step towards less usage of dangerous chemicals in the textile industry.
Nooteboom Textiles supports this initiative.
GRS - Global Recycling Standard
GRS stands for Global Recycled Standard, which is a standard which verifies the presence and amount of recycled material in fabrics and tracks the flow of raw materials from its source to the final product. It is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions. The GRS certificate only applies to fabrics that contain more than 50% recycled fibers. Nooteboom Textiles cares about the environment and actively participates in the initiative to give yarns a second life.
TENCEL™ Lyocell
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are the ingredient of choice for mills, designers and brands focused on a better approach to comfort. Born from nature with a silky-soft texture, TENCEL™ unveils a new standard of conscious fashion and interiors. A touch of TENCEL™ is as good as it makes you feel. TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers have gained a commendable reputation for their environmentally responsible, closed loop production process, which transforms wood pulp into cellulosic fibers with high resource efficiency and low ecological impact. This solvent-spinning process recycles process water and reuses the solvent at a recovery rate of more than 99%.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose
With LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose fibers, you can be assured that your choices are sensitive to environmental concerns. Derived from certified and controlled wood sources and produced with significantly lower fossil energy use and water than generic viscose, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose fibers are certified with the internationally recognized EU Ecolabel for textile products (license no. AT/016/001). This label of environmental excellence is only awarded to products and services, which have a significantly lower environmental impact throughout their lifecycle: from raw material extraction to production, distribution and disposal.
Mulesing Free Wool
Mulesing is a routine method in which farmers remove the skin around a lamb's breech and tail to prevent flystrike, in order to prevent their sheep from being killed by infections. It is a painful and traumatizing surgical procedure. Nooteboom Textiles does not support these farmers and is against animal cruelty. No animal should suffer in order to fulfill human needs.
Hereby we confirm that our wool products (e.g. 04578 / 20020) are produced of yarn which is mulesing-free.
UPF50 - Ultraviolet Protection Factor
It is important for swimwear fabrics that it protects our skin from getting sunburnt. UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and is tested by method EN 13758-1:2001. The result states how much of the UV-rays are blocked by the fabric.
Nooteboom Textiles says product safety comes first, especially regarding our little ones. Our swimwear fabric is UPF50, which means that the fabric blocks more than 98% of the sun’s rays. UPF50 is comparable with factor 50 sunscreen and the test result does not change after washing.
