What are muslin fabrics?
Muslin fabrics are perfect for making baby and children's clothes. Muslin is a light and soft fabric. Other commonly used terms for muslin are baby cotton and hydrophilic fabric. The name muslin is derived from the city of Mosul in Iraq, an old center for the textile trade, where Europeans first came into contact with it.
Properties of muslin fabrics
Muslin is often made from cotton. The important properties of muslin fabrics are:
- Muslin is a lightweight fabric;
- Muslin is airy;
- Muslin fabric is soft;
- Muslin is often used for children's and baby clothes;
For optimal preservation of muslin fabrics, we recommend that you follow the indicated washing instructions on a product page.
Muslin should be washed at a maximum of 30 degrees. We also recommend that you do not dry muslin with a tumble dryer. Please note, the fabric may shrink a little when it is washed for the first time.
We recommend ironing this fabric at a maximum ironing board temperature of 110°C without steam. Please note, the characteristic creases in muslin fabrics may diminish after ironing.
Applications of muslin fabrics
The muslin that we offer is mainly used as a children's fabric. Muslin is widely used in making baby clothes, kids' clothes, casual wear, and for making scarves.
