WHAT IS UPF50?
It is important for swimwear fabrics that it protects our skin from getting sunburnt. UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and is tested by method EN 13758-1:2001. The result states how much of the UV-rays are blocked by the fabric.
Nooteboom Textiles says product safety comes first, especially regarding our little ones. Our swimwear fabric is UPF50, which means that the fabric blocks more than 98% of the sun’s rays. UPF50 is comparable with factor 50 sunscreen and the test result does not change after washing.
Also the color fastness to washing, light, rubbing, perspiration, chlorine water and sea water is all grade 4 or higher. We tested everything so you can be sure that our product is safe for swimsuits.
