Get inspired by Genmadethat

Genevieve fell in love during the pandemic with her sewing machine which she named Greta (for reason we can get into later) and the creative projects they took on together. @genmadethat is her extended stitch diary open for anyone curious to see what she gets up to. Greta and Genevieve are very happy to welcome you here as they work through a very extensive fabric stash of Nooteboom Textiles fabrics to create her dream wardrobe.

Happy Valentine’s Day loves 💋

Made the cutest flirty dress using one of my favorite patterns.
I paired the pattern with this gorgeous fabric from @nooteboomtextiles

The wide leg pant of my dreams 🌸

So I’m a lazy gyal and I love a lazy gyal pant. For me that is a wide leg elastic pant. Ive made a pair before with a different pattern but I wasn’t too happy with the fit and wasn’t ready to make the necessary adjustments.
I don’t have my notes to check what size I made but it fits perfectly and it works so well with this gorgeous stripped linen from @nooteboomtextiles

I packed soo much linen based clothes and I’m not mad. The fabric is really lovely but it is a little it by on the skin.•
I shall be making these again and I’m very excited for it 🫶🏽

First make of the year

To me it was the perfect fabric choice to make a not so fancy looking slip dress as most slips tend to be.

I made the XL which fits fine although there is some gaping in the bust that I’m not loving. My fabric comes from @nooteboomtextiles and is a lovely yellow cotton gingham. Brought me a lot of joy

I have a little bit of fabric left over so I may be able to squeeze out a pair of shorts

My last project of 2024!

I’ve been itching for a simple uncomplicated project to get into after dealing with the overwhelming nature of the last few months. I already had my fabric chosen from @nooteboomtextiles(gifted) which didn’t fit the project I had originally intended once I felt the fabric. So back to the drawing board I went. For me that means scrolling through my pattern library for inspiration to strike.

Me 🤝 Butano

I have had a vision of a striped button up shirt with an embroidery patch for years now! I actually have been collecting stripped cottons to eventually make my vision come to life but just never had the chance to sit and actually bring it to life. Enter the @nooteboomtextilessummer collection🫡

Fibermood Flavia✨

When I got this fabric from @nooteboomtextilesI knew I had found the perfect match! The colours are lovely and there’s a slight hint of gold threads running through the weave.I almost didn’t want to cut into it!I was super torn about what I wanted the fabric to be but I am happy with the outcome.Looking at the clips now i think one of the pleats may folded in the wrong direction but if you close your eyes you can’t see it so, I’m gonna do that 😂

Satin SKIRT

I am selecting my autumn wardrobe and trying something new. I made a slip skirt which I think is a clasic fall staple piece and with this fabric I think it has some of the best colors to complement the colors of the season. This beautiful satin fabric comes from Nooteboom Textiles winter collection.

Cotton Satin Blouse

If only it was that easy.. Meet my new shirt. I've had this pattern printed and ready for making since it was released and I've been super excited to make it. I made a size XL which fits nicely and made it in this audaciously loud stretch cotton from Nooteboom Textiles.

Viscose Poplin Dress

Do you ever just see a fabric and KNOW what it’s gonna be?
That was me with this absolutely stunning floral viscose poplin from Nooteboom Textiles. I could just see it and I knew it was gonna be a bias cut dress. Something that hugged the body nicely.

Wanna know what I love the most about it? I can still wear a bra with this neckline which I feel like is not always the case.

I french seamed the skirt which I think is always a great idea for anything cut on the bias. When i make this again, i think i’ll need to make the seam allowance a lot smaller to reduce the bulk but that’s mostly a preference thing i think.

I am going to a wedding in a few months and I just know that this will be the PERFECT dress for it!

Voile embroidered dress

I’m still not over how well this turned out! I’m already getting ready to make a 4th! I’m down for a whole wardrobe filled with Adrift shifts for all possible occasions.
I sewed this dress in a day, well an afternoon really cause it’s just that simple and easy and added bias tape to over the edges. I love it so much.

Borken Crepe DRESS

I feel like I’m late to the sundress party, but I’m still happy to join in. This dress makes me feel like should be attending to my crops and plants. I feel like it’s all down to the fabric which is amazing!

The fabric comes from Nooteboom Textiles and is this lovely crepe viscose that I must admit was a bit difficult to sew. It was very fiddly and I had to take my time but it worked out well I think.

It’s the Annie skirt✨

It was intended to be a tad longer but for my vision i wanted a cute mini almost risque skirt. It was easy to make and gave me no headache. As the fabric is quite lightweight and needed to be lined. I shortened it by about 5 cm but making it a second time, I’ll increase the length by 2 cm (so shorten the original pattern by 3 instead of 5) just to make it a little more wearable in other seasons.
